Developed during my Atelier AM residency (July-September 2022) in Almere Haven, Nefes Care is a multimedia installation made in collaboration with Mira Thompson, Anna Raiola and with the mentorship of Victoria McKenzie. The installation consists of photography, print material & objects, video, textile and a publication. Nefes Care explores pathways for the transformation of carceral society into a care-based one, sourcing from intimate experiences of care constellations we create with each other in the face of violence. With disability justice as the main political framework, the process was intended as an experiment in accessible production of artistic work, as a departure from the fast-paced hyper-able-bodied demands of the cultural industry. We took our time, prioritized each other's and our own well-being, centered our pleasure, extended more care, love, support, encouragement, inspiration and held evolving/growing possibilities.

The work was presented to the public on 31st August 2022, taking place at De Kwekerij of Corrosia Theater in Almere Haven. To order a copy of the 44-page publication of Nefes Care (as seen in images above) please contact me at rukelfilm@gmail.com
